ZOË ATKINSON

Bsc Physiotherapy, AHPRA & APAM
Business Owner and Clinical Lead

Zoë graduated as a physiotherapist from University of Birmingham in the UK in 1993. Zoë has worked in hospital, community and not for profit organisations during her career, and has a vast experience of working with children and adults of all ages with physical disability.  Zoë has a clinical interest in complex physical disability and postural management.   She has experience with neurological conditions in adults and paediatrics and has worked as a community provider for over 20 years.  Community service delivery is Zoë’s area of expertise and the work she enjoys doing the most.  Zoë’s postgraduate studies have been in paediatric and adult neurology and 24 hour positioning.  She is committed to helping you to achieve the physical goals you have for your 1Life.  Zoë is a registered physiotherapist with AHPRA and is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and APA Paediatric and Disability groups. 

In her spare time Zoë enjoys swimming in cold rock pools and spending time with her family. 

NICKY MARSHALL

BSc Physiotherapy

Nicky trained as a physiotherapist in the UK, receiving a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Birmingham in 1997. She worked in England for 10 years in the public hospital system gaining a broad experience in areas including musculoskeletal, neurology, orthopaedics, disability and community health. She moved to the Illawarra in 2007 and has worked in both the private and public sector since then. Her clinical areas of interest include chronic pain, having completed a postgraduate professional certificate in pain sciences through the University of South Australia in 2018 and neurological conditions including Parkinson’s.

She has completed training in LSVT BIG therapy and PD warrior exercise prescription. She is involved in facilitating a local Parkinson’s exercise group and is also a local pain educator through the Pain Revolution.

She is passionate about helping people manage their health conditions and/or disability to allow maximum function, achieve their valued goals and enhance their quality of life.

JO CARROLL

LSVT-Big Certified Clinician

Jo graduated as a Physiotherapist from the University of Sydney in 1995. She has worked in rehabilitation for most of her career with a vast array of neurological conditions such as stroke, MS, Parkinson’s Disease, FND and brain injuries as well as with amputees, spinal injuries, orthopaedic conditions and general reconditioning.

Jo is passionate about working with you to achieve your physical goals within your home and in the community to maximise your independence and function.

TARYN RUIZ

TARYN RUIZ

Master of Physiotherapy

Taryn graduated with a Master of Physiotherapy in 2013 from the University of Western Sydney.

During her eight years working at St George, Broken Hill and Port Kembla Hospitals, she found her passion in neurological rehabilitation and amputee care. She has experience supporting people with a range of neurological conditions, both acute and progressive including Stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis and FND.

Her transition from the hospital system to the private sector in 2022 has helped bridge the gap in patient care, where Taryn can assist clients continue their journey to achieve their NDIS goals in the community.

Taryn strives for a holistic, client first approach; taking pride in empowering her clients and finds great reward in supporting people in the pursuit of their goals. She is dedicated to helping clients understand their condition, build functional independence, and improve their quality of life through evidence-based treatment and education.

BEVERLEY GALLAGHER

Allied Therapy Assistant Level 2

Bev enjoys connecting with people and working with them to achieve their goals. Bev has a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance and a Diploma in Community Services (Disability Work). She is a self-motivated, creative, positive energetic person with more than 25 years’ experience in the Disability Sector, both in government and not-for-profit organisations. Bev has specialised in providing therapeutic support across Allied Health areas of Speech pathology, Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy.

Out of work Bev enjoys bushwalking, riding her motorbike, yoga, meditation, ocean fun and photography.

NICOLE BUCKMAN

Allied Therapy Assistant Level 2

Nic holds a Certificate IV in Allied health Assistance and a Certificate IV in Fitness. She has spent most of her career in the Fitness and Aquatic industry working with children and adults of all ages. From this career a true passion and enjoyment has developed to help those she connects with gain a greater wellbeing and independence.
When Nic isn’t working you will find her at the beach with her family or being a taxi for her girls’ activities.

NYREE SAXBY

Allied Health Assistant Level 2

Nyree has worked as an Allied Health Assistant for the past 2 and a half years, guiding clients with disabilities and mature-aged clients through their allied health programs. Nyree enjoys building relationships with her clients and is passionate about helping her clients reach their full potential, making every session interesting and fun.

From her own life experiences, Nyree’s goals are to make a difference and to create a positive impact on the lives of others.

BORIS BARALDI

Accounts & HR

Boris is responsible for managing Accounts and Human Resources at 1Life Physio and ensuring our compliance . Boris has extensive knowledge of the NDIS Rules, Act and Practice Standards and manages billing, invoicing and funding.  Boris is committed to ensuring essential paperwork, policies and procedures are in place for the everyday running of 1Life Physio.
Boris is an active part of his community and plays an integral role within the Oak Flats Swim Club and other local organisations. Boris is passionate about volunteering and making a positive difference in people’s lives.

JEN MORRISSY

Administration Assistant

Jen has come across to us from an outside of school care company where she worked on the floor as well as part of the management team providing support to the company as the Inclusion Support Facilitator. This involved reviewing and communicating with Guardians, supporting practitioners and the NDIS to ensure the needs of children were met. When Jen is not working she enjoys participating in oztag & hockey and hanging out with her family.
